Trio for clarinet, viola and piano was the first piece composed during my studies at The Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, Poland. It is inspired by books of Hermann Hesse.
There seems to be one basic idea common for all Hesse’s writing. I would call it showing the process of birth, development, inner conflict, maturation and final self-reconciliation of whether a certain person, relationship, feeling or some general idea. According to his words, Hesse considered music the best possible way to express his ideas, and really regretted not being able to use it. I hope he wouldn’t mind my modest attempt to do it myself, as I did in Trio.
