Bio

Composer, b. 1979. Appreciated for emotional depth, a strong sense of dramaturgy, and refined orchestration. He seeks a synthesis between classical tradition and contemporary expression—combining formal clarity with modern approaches to color, texture, and narrative.

His work, marked by a particular sensitivity to structure, pattern, and meaning—often explores themes such as the ambiguity of language, the imperfection of memory, and the complexity of communication. The dark expression of his music is illuminated by moments of lyricism.

He is the author of over a dozen operas and music dramas, most created in collaboration with contemporary writers including Georgi Gospodinov, Orhan Pamuk, Radek Rak, Olga Tokarczuk, Szczepan Twardoch, and Marcin Wicha, as well as several dozen instrumental and vocal-instrumental works, ranging from solo and chamber to symphonic.

Recipient of awards such as the Polityka Passport (2018), the Coryphaeus of Polish Music Award (2021), the O!lśnienia Award (2021), the Polish Composers’ Union Award (2021), the Silver Medal for Merit to Culture Gloria Artis (2023), and a nomination for the Kutz Prize (2024).
