The title is a combination of three words: quantum, temporal / secular, and quartette. These meanings have a certain influence on the shape of the piece, some in a more obvious way, others less, but the composer would prefer not to go into explaining them, firstly fearing that, letting himself be carried away by the word, he might create a reality that would then not be sought in the music itself, and secondly, assuming that while some extra-musical content may sometimes be important in the creation of a work, it is not necessarily the case when it is received. The musical matter in a piece is, as usual, the resultant of many factors such as chance, mood, partly conscious and partly unconscious choices etc; everything has an overriding goal - finding or creating a level of understanding with the recipient by operating on what is already known to him from somewhere and what is not yet. Certainly not without significance is a very specific combination of instruments.

The piece was written in the summer of 2008 at the request of the Polish Music Festival in Krakow and is dedicated to the composer's brother, Bartek.
